NATUG was born from the collective determination of millions of Ghanaian households who believe that everyone deserves access to safe, affordable, and dignified housing.

Ghana faces a housing deficit exceeding 2 million units, with urban migration outpacing construction. Over 95% of rental housing is managed by informal landlords, creating widespread challenges for tenants nationwide.

Common exploitative practices include 2-5 year rent advances, unlawful evictions, discriminatory treatment, and poor housing conditions. Weak enforcement of existing rent control laws leaves tenants vulnerable and without recourse.

Economic hardship from excessive advance rent demands

Unsafe living conditions and substandard housing

Limited knowledge of tenant rights and legal protections

Difficulty accessing justice and dispute resolution
